Checkmate Puzzle 37 Solution
1. Bc4+ Kh7 2. Qh4+ Kg6 3. Bf7#
[1… Qxc4? 2. Qxg7#] [1… Kh8 2. Qh4+ Bh6 3. Qxh6#]
First White moves the bishop on c4 to check and cover f7, g8 and to deflect the Black queen from g7. Taking the bishop leads to mate in 2 — the Black king has to move on h7. Then the White queen checks from h4 and the bishop mates from f7.

Checkmate Puzzle 38 Solution
1. Qh5 Kxg7 2. Qxf7+ Kh8 3. Ng6#
[1… ~ (not Kxg7) 2. Qh8#]
First the White queen moves on h5 with making mate threat 2. Qh8#. To avoid the mate in 2, the Black king has to take the pawn on g7. Then the White queen takes the Black pawn on f7 with check and the knight mates from g6.
