Checkmate Puzzle 15 Solution
1. g4+ Kxg4 2. Qg3+ Kh5 3. Qh3# [1… fxg4? 2. Qh2#] [1… Kh4? 2. Qg3#]
The White rook attacks g6, h6. The g3-pawn moves up to check and with sacrifice to open line e5-h2 and clear g3 for the White queen. Then there are 3 different possibilities depending on the Black answer – all are Mate in 3 or Mate in 2.

Checkmate Puzzle 16 Solution
1. Qf7+ Bg7 2. Qxg7#
This checkmate puzzle on Mate in 2 is not difficult. The White bishop attacks h8, and the queen moves on f7 to check “face to face.” The only possibility for Black is to move the bishop on g7. Then the queen takes the bishop with mate.
