1. Qxh7+ Kxh7 2. Rh3#
The square g8 is attacked by the White light bishop, the square g6 by a White pawn; the square g7 is blocked by a Black pawn. The White queen sacrifice to remove the defense and dispose the Black king for the rook mating from h3.

1. Rh8+ Kxh8 2. Rf8#
The square g7 is blocked, but the Black king is controlling f8. The strong White knight attacks f7 and h7. How is White to mate? The right rook-sacrifice moves on h8 to place the king at the corner and deflect it from f8 for the left rook to mate.
