1. Rxf8+ Kxf8 2. Qd8#
A typical checkmate combination… The White rook sacrifice with check to extract the Black king “on the edge of the tube” f8, g8, h8. After the White rook sacrifice, the king can move only on e7, e8. The White queen mates from d8!

Checkmate Puzzle 20 Solution
1. Ng5 Qd7 2. Nxh7# [1… g6 2. Qf7#]
By moving 1. Ng5, the White knight clears f7 for the queen, opens line e6-g8 and attacks h7. As result, White has created 2 different mate threats: Nxh7# and Qf7#. By one move, Black is not able to react to the 2 mate threats created.
