* About Byron Zappas Byron Zappas was born in Greece in 1927. He dedicated his life to education and chess. By profession, he studied economics and became a professor. He learned chess at the age of 14. As member of the Cypriot team he participated in Chess Olympiad 1964 in Israel. Byron Zappas is the author of at least 400 chess puzzles. He was the only Greek Grandmaster for chess composition. Byron Zappas passed away in 2008.
