Checkmate Puzzle 71 Solution  1. Bf7 Nc7 2. Bg7# [1… Rc7 2. Rg8#] This chess puzzle on mate in 2 has two variations and two solutions. First, White makes a brilliant move with his light bishop on f7. By moving his bishop on f7, White has attacked g8 and has created 2 mate threats: 2. Bg7# and 2. Rh8#. The Black knight is attacking the g7-square, but it is shadowing its rook – Black is not able to repulse the both mating threats of White in one move. Back to top
